ZenMaid
Scheduling and business management software for maid services.
Amar Ghose co-founded ZenMaid in 2013 after running a cleaning business himself and being unable to find software that actually worked for the industry. Every generic scheduling tool missed the specific workflows of cleaning services: recurring schedules, cleaner availability management, automatic appointment reminders, and client invoicing. He built ZenMaid specifically for this one niche and never tried to expand it. The focus paid off. Word spread through cleaning business owner forums and Facebook groups. ZenMaid became the dominant software platform for residential cleaning services — maid services, house cleaning companies, and independent cleaners across the US. Amar documented the ZenMaid growth journey publicly, eventually growing to $200k+/month in revenue and later writing about selling a portion of the business. The company remained lean, never raised outside capital, and continued to grow through the cleaning industry's word-of-mouth network. A classic story of picking a non-glamorous vertical that everyone else ignored and dominating it.
