SocialBee is the social media management platform Ovi Negrean bootstrapped from Cluj-Napoca, Romania in 2016. Its key differentiation is the "content categories" approach: instead of filling a calendar slot by slot, users create categories (Educational, Promotional, Entertaining, Curated) and add posts to each category. SocialBee then rotates through categories automatically, ensuring the right content mix without manual scheduling effort every week. The evergreen recycling feature — automatically re-queuing posts that performed well rather than letting them disappear after one publication — dramatically reduces the content creation burden for small teams. SocialBee grew to $3M+ ARR serving solopreneurs, small businesses, and boutique agencies who needed a lighter-weight alternative to Hootsuite with smarter content rotation. The company bootstrapped profitably from Romania, proving that Eastern European founders can build globally competitive SaaS products with far lower burn rates than their US counterparts.
