Mouseflow's key differentiation was price and sampling: where FullStory charged enterprise prices for 100% session capture, Mouseflow offered flexible sampling rates at much lower cost, making it accessible to small and mid-size businesses. The product spread through digital marketing and UX communities and became a popular alternative to Hotjar for businesses needing richer data with lower overhead. Mouseflow remained bootstrapped and independent even as the behavior analytics category attracted massive VC investment.
