Reincubate launched Camo in the UK in 2020, capitalizing perfectly on the pandemic-driven remote work surge. The problem: built-in laptop webcams were terrible, and external USB webcams were sold out everywhere. The solution was elegant — your iPhone already had a better camera than any webcam, it just needed software to bridge it. Camo worked over USB and WiFi to turn any iPhone into a professional-grade webcam, with controls for zoom, lighting correction, exposure, and even a tele-crop for a closer shot. The app went viral immediately when remote work forced everyone onto video calls in March 2020. Reincubate already had experience in iOS data recovery software, which gave them the technical foundation to build Camo quickly. The app was available free with basic features and Camo Pro ($40/year) for advanced controls. Revenue grew from nothing to $30k+/month within months of the pandemic surge. Reincubate remained bootstrapped in London. A perfect example of identifying a sudden market need and shipping fast enough to capture it.
