Dejan Grofelnik Pelzel founded BunnyCDN in Slovenia in 2017 with a simple thesis: CDN services were either too expensive (Cloudflare enterprise, AWS CloudFront) or too complicated to set up. BunnyCDN offered a pay-as-you-go CDN with transparent pricing, a clean dashboard, and zero monthly minimums — perfect for indie developers, small agencies, and bootstrapped SaaS companies. The service expanded from CDN to include Bunny Storage (object storage competing with S3), Bunny Optimizer (automatic image compression and WebP conversion), and Bunny Stream (video hosting and delivery). BunnyCDN built a reputation for being the most developer-friendly CDN at the best price point. It spread through developer communities, self-hosted software recommendations, and indie hacker forums. Revenue grew to $1M+/month from tens of thousands of customers globally. Dejan kept the company bootstrapped and independent from Slovenia, scaling the infrastructure without venture capital.
