Beaver Builder
The page builder WordPress developers recommend to clients.
The FastLine Media team — Robby McCullough and Billy Young — launched Beaver Builder in Fort Collins, Colorado in 2014. Where other WordPress page builders like Visual Composer were developer-hostile (messy shortcodes, unstable code), Beaver Builder was built from the start to produce clean HTML output that developers could hand off to clients without worrying about vendor lock-in. The focus on developer trust drove adoption in the agency market: web agencies adopted it as their standard page builder because clients could learn it, output was clean, and the plugin didn't break sites with updates. Beaver Builder charged an annual license ($99 for single site, $199 unlimited). The company bootstrapped from Fort Collins, growing a passionate agency-focused community. They added Beaver Themer (theme building), PowerPack add-ons, and a layout template library. Revenue grew to $100k+/month from agency licenses. A product that succeeded by choosing the harder path — clean code over quick features — and earning the trust of professional developers over years.
